A climb with a brief crux that includes a somewhat perplexing path and tough crimp cranking into a lieback crack. My partner broke a foothold on the crux which may have made it harder, but likely not by much.

This is an excellent route with thoughtful sequences and a tricky crux move revolving around poor feet and cryptic pinches (or sidepulls? or crimps? Depends how you do it!).  While the 10c crux is short, the upper section features some very enjoyable, steep 9+ movement on perfect crystals.

Follow the aforementioned weakness as it goes up and begins to curve rightward toward its end. Climb the face R of the curving section (crux) then more or less straight up on highly featured face another 20-30 feet. You can set a decent belay on slung natural features about 20-30 feet below the "top". To exit scramble up the obvious wide gully (5.easy) then walk back around the top and back down to the start using the approach trail to Avalon.

If you start left of the black water streak, just below the sloping shelf, directly beneath the 4" gaping arch, you get a very different climb than listed in STLIII.  Try 5.3/.4   at a consistent grade, straight up to anchors: short and sweet.

A thin 5.7 slab move leads to interesting but easy climbing around a flake, then up another fun 5.7 undercling move to gain the anchor.

Follow the obvious crack L of "Sword in the Stone" up through a R facing corner to the anchors.

Very blank and vertical face down low, with significantly easier climbing after the first 30-40 feet. 

Caveat emptor:  No pro on this one, but Trad was the only option due to MP route type parameters.. Follow your nose up low-angle, slick, water sculpted shallow trough.

Fun and reasonably sustained climb involving technical, slabby sequences with a short bulge move over a mini roof.

Use the boulder to establish yourself on the climb. The crux is at a short little steep section around the 4th and 5th bolts. The climbing eases up considerably after that. 

Starts in a short dihedral section, then a cool 5.10 undercling crux is followed by easy climbing.  A strong 2.5 star climb.

Not my route, but some talented/confident folks put this up.  Although it's mostly bolts: it's trad. Spicy trad.  Slippery in a few spots even, it IS a water trough after all.   Good bolts though.

Good climbing on perfect rock.  A great warmup.

Mostly very easy climbing leads up to a neat-o crux sequence just below the anchor.

The 4th bolt line as you walk downhill at Avalon. Note: The first 2 bolted routes (Squire and Fife) share their 1st bolt start. This potentially creates some confusion if you're counting bolt lines in order to locate routes.

Nice slab near the right side of the formation, before the trail gets steep and overgrown.  Climb up and tend right to a bolt, then place the optional cam, and more bolts above to the right.  I cut back left to the first set of anchors I saw which may not be the original line, but it lowered pretty straight down to the pack.  See the photo.

Climb over a couple of overlapping flakes then more or less straight up the face on knobs, plates, et. al. Makes a good way to exit the left end of Avalon. To exit from Avalon: From the top of the route (obvious), follow your nose up the wide low-angle gully that separates Avalon from Booker's Dome.

Maybe I stitched routes together, but this is the 2nd bolt line I saw when I got to Avalon and although it crosses Chastity, it climbs nicely and is the longest route of it's grade here for those collecting the whole set.

Three bolts down low take you through a balancy/thin slab section to an obvious crack. The crack is a little flared and does not take pro overly well, but there may be some opportunities to sling some chicken heads. The climbing is very easy once you reach the predominant crack.

This climb is listed as "???? project" in Squeezing the Lemon III.  It's almost certain that Steve Johnson climbed this - see his post dated 10-29-12 in  this thread (ignore the rest of the thread, which is an argument about some other routes at Avalon).    At any rate it's a good climb revolving around a hard slab sequence in between the second and third bolt.  The start is a reachy 5.10 move, and after the crux is about 60 feet of much easier (5.8?) but enjoyable knob romping.

This is a very casual route with only maybe 1 or two moves at 6+/7 - the rest is 5.4-5.5.

Another nice route.  Look left and see how they used to space bolts...

A few 11- slab moves lead to fun, mostly easy climbing up to the crux, a technical bulge encounter with mediocre sidepulls.

Technical, thin face climbing down low, then more featured, but easier climbing up high.

 This route is not in STLIII. If anyone has information on it, please let me know.

Can't believe this isn't in here.  Wow, what a classic 9!   One of the older routes here, predating Steve Johnson's work (he called it 5.8+).  Although it's mostly bolts, it climbs like old-style trad: cinch up your harness and tighten your shoes.  I called it PG-13 just to wake up the budding 5.9 leader.

Up the left facing flake to slab, just right of Camelot II, the prominent right facing crack corner in the center of the fall.

Avalon is a great high elevation crag featuring some of the best rock quality on the mountain, a good variety of decent quality climbs, and a few gems.  It was mostly developed by the late Steve Johnson and friends around 2012. The routes at Avalon tend to be slab-oriented, with the occasional steep, cruxy bulge move.  You can get by with just quickdraws (12-15 or so), but a light rack opens up more good terrain. The rock is mostly south facing, so the routes get a lot of sun, but the base is shaded by some majestic evergreen trees so you can stay cool even on the hottest days of summer.  As usual, the best details are found in Squeezing the Lemmon III - only about half the routes are listed here.
